What does it consist of?

The marriage deed is the process by which two persons, whether of the same or different sex, join in marriage before a notary, expressing their consent freely and voluntarily.

After signing before the notary, the marriage deed must be registered in the civil registry.

The marriage file must be processed in the place of registration of one of the spouses and the notary will assign it to the notarial association of the area on a rotating basis.

On the other hand, the celebration of marriage can be handled by any competent notary in the place where the wedding is held. This means that a notary of Murcia cannot celebrate a marriage in Albacete.
